Quite place close to the centre with good food, reasonable prices and appropriate service.

The goose thief a chic restaurant. Waiter All nice. The goose fat was delicious the garlic baguette too. The leg of goose was good. The sauce and the dumplings were delicious. The construction workers schnitzel was ok, the ingredients were really top quality. But nothing special. More goose dishes on the menu would be nice.

As always, it is simply a pleasure to eat in a goose thief. My favorite place in Dresden for 14 years

Here you can eat very tasty at a fair price. The whole thing in the middle of Dresden's old town, very close to the town hall. With pleasure again!

Wanted to go to Gänsedieb for dinner Unfortunately, since we didn't have any change for the parking meters in front of the door, we went to the restaurant and asked if they would change us a euro note for change. This was rejected in a rather unfriendly manner, since small change would cause costs for the goose thief operator. Too bad for him, we then went a few doors down to Mama Mia, where we were welcomed in a friendly manner and also helped out with change for the parking meter.

Delicious Saxon dishes. Difficult to find something comparable in downtown Dresden. Prices for the top location surprisingly low. I can recommend the “goose thief”.

Food portions in very good quality but a little too small, but it works with a starter. Very nice beer garden, nice staff. To recommend

We were 4 days in Dresden and 4x here, super nice service with a lot of humor in the voice and eyes (face mask), ate 4x, everything tasted great, we'll be back! Oh and I'm still waiting for my keg of beer ... Greetings from the Berliners, Sandra and Jan

So first of all super unfriendly staff! We noticed it when we kindly asked for a straw. The straw was thrown into my glass with an annoyed look. No one spoke to us. The food has been delicious so far. However, I didn't find my schnitzel quite as well as my friend's, which we also told the waiter. He then replied with that is the ham, my dear. We pointed out that we don't mean the ham but the schnitzel. This was dismissed with just a shake of the head. So unfortunately absolutely unfriendly ..

Cards are accepted. There is an English menu book. For tourists. The name of the store is "Goose Thief". Roasted half size of the famous goose 1600 Japanese yen. Brauen 1400 Japanese Yen with roasted pork. Green salad 600 Japanese yen. Mushroom soup 900 Japanese yen was delicious. The hospitality of the cheerful and friendly male staff is also good. On the southeast side of Christmas Square, on the northeast side of Kreuzkirche (Church of the Holy Cross).

German food done well! Not sure about you, but I’ve had my fair share of plain schnitzels and German food that fail to deliver a ‘wow’ experience. Gänsedieb elevates your favourite German dishes and gives them a modern spin. Prices are very fair and the ambience is unassuming, inviting and warm.

Very nice restaurant with delicious food, great special for € 3.70, water bottle € 6. The food was very tasty, changing side dishes was not a problem. Unfortunately, a small portion, but that's up to you. Staff was very friendly. We would love to come back.

Delicious food. I had the parried asparagus (day ticket). A vegetarian option was even possible on request. The service staff were attentive and very friendly. We would love to come back and can recommend the restaurant without reservation.

Lovely candlelit restaurant with local food options. We had the wild boar stew and the chicken parma with pasta. Both were exquisite and would highly recommend!

Nice waitresses and delicious food. We came here with 6 people and dined excellently. Price performance ratio is top. Extremely tasty dishes and delicious beer make a visit worthwhile. It is advisable to reserve in advance, as this restaurant is well attended. Would love to come back.

I went to this restaurant twice and both times I had a terrible experience. First time was related to the food where I received (still cold) frozen vegetables which were not even cooked properly. Another time we were repeatedly told from 21.00 that we cannot continue drinking outside after 22.00 because it is a residential area. We accepted this, but the waitress came another 5 or 6 times in the next 15 minutes to say we must go inside at 22.00. We decided to leave around 21.15 as we felt so uncomfortable with this.

A nice, classic German restaurant. Traditional food and atmosphere. There are a lot of waitors so service is good and quick. It's not a cheap place but the prices are very reasonable

Nice traditional German restaurant. Food is simple but very good. Service is also very good and friendly, but food took way too long to come. If you don't mind waiting 45 min. for your sausage and potato puree then it is alright. Reservation for this place is needed.

Cozy restaurant near the city center, directly behind the Kreuzkirche. Tasty and varied dishes. Nice service. We ate there on Saturdays in the early evening and found a place without a reservation! Highly recommended!
